Video of the Day

Some interesting things about this race that we surely will never see again in a major marathon:

Winner - White(sorry Hall, don't see it happening)
Top 3 - White(Carlos Lopes is Portuguese, so, if not, close enough)
World Record - In the rain
Top 3 all held world records consecutively (Rob De Castella 12/6/81 - 10/21/84, Steve Jones 10/21/84 - 4/20/85, Carlos Lopes 4/20/85 - 4/17/88)

And no one in the top 3 was wearing a watch.
Fascinating...

  1. Simply amazing. It's kinda sad that todays top marathoners don't ever want to face each other. Great video! Great Blog!

  2. you are a racist piece of crap; first of all, I'm fairly certain a white man will win another major marathon at some point in the future. Secondly, it's not something we necessarily need to point out. Thirdly, Carlos Lopes is undoubtedly white. White is a social construct, and the only reason you are saying he isn't white is because of your impression of Latin America. He's from Europe. Look at Sergio Sanchez from Spain; are you going to tell me he's not white because he's also Hispanic?

  3. there is no connection between portugal, latin america and the term hispanic. you may not be asserting a connection, but i believe what you've written is in need of this clarification.
