It only took me about two days to realize that Jenny Simpson is/was Jenny Barringer.
I thought Jenny Simpson was some English runner. Then I watched the Flotrack interview and it all came together. I don't know why everyone is saying "Jenny Simpson" like people should know who the hell they're talking about.
Incidentally, the men's world record was 4:28 in 1868 and held by Walter Gibbs of England.
